The 2021-22 NHL season continues with six games on Tuesday night’s card, so we’re breaking down this interconference showdown from the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington to get you the best Islanders vs. Kraken betting pick and odds.
New York meets Seattle for just the second time in franchise history, as the Kraken defeated the Islanders on February 2, 3-0. Seattle has lost three straight games entering this contest. The Islanders opened as -167 favorites on the road on WynnBet NY Sportsbook, while the Kraken are +130 underdogs with a total of 5.5 goals.
Islanders Look to End Road Skid
The New York Islanders (18-20-7; 18-27 ATS) lost to the Montréal Canadiens in a shootout on Sunday, 3-2. That was in New York, but now the team heads to the road where they have lost three straight games, scoring a combined total of six goals. The Islanders are 8-10-3 on the road.
The Islanders twice trailed by a single goal in this contest, but battled back to tie the game each time, forcing overtime where the team fell in a shootout. Brock Nelson scored his 17th goal of the year, and he is the team leader in that category. Noah Dobson was held off the score sheet, but has four points over his last five games. New York is 29th in goals scored per game (2.4).
The Islanders have been outstanding defensively, fifth in the NHL in goals allowed per game (2.7). Ilya Sorokin has been spectacular, going 15-11-6 with a 2.44 GAA and a .921 save percentage. He stopped 25 shots in the loss to Montréal and has now allowed three total goals over his last two starts.
Kraken Return Home to Welcome Islanders
The Seattle Kraken (16-31-4; 23-28 ATS) lost to Calgary on Saturday, 2-1. The Kraken travel to Vancouver on Monday to take on the Canucks, but this preview was written prior to the conclusion of that contest. The team will return home on Tuesday to welcome the Islanders as they are 9-16-2 at home.
Philipp Grubauer was solid in the loss to Calgary, stopping 35 of 37 shots. While not putting up the numbers he recorded in Colorado, Grubauer has been a major bright spot for this team, going 12-21-4 with a 3.15 GAA. Grubauer has allowed 12 total goals over his last five games.
The Kraken are 27th in goals scored per game (2.6) and in goals allowed per contest (3.5). Yanni Gourde has six points over his last five games and now has 28 points in 43 total contests, third-best on the team.

New York Islanders vs. Seattle Kraken Betting Pick
New York has not been a great road team this season, but they get the advantage of a night off before taking on the Kraken. Seattle not only will have to play on back-to-back nights, but will have to travel from Vancouver, even if it is a short trip, then get ready to take on the Islanders. That gives New York a clear edge. Plus, Seattle will be going with their backup goaltender.
The Kraken have struggled at home of late, losing 12 of their last 15 games. This should be a contest that New York will gain control of as the game goes along.
Pick: Take New York Islanders at -167
The Total:
This has the earmarks of a low-scoring contest. These teams combined for three goals the last time they met and New York has gone under in nine of their last 13 games against teams with a losing record and 18 of their last 26 games against Western Conference opponents. Seattle has gone under in four of their last five games against Eastern Conference opponents and have gone under in five of their last six games when playing on zero day’s rest.
The Islanders have scored six total goals in their last three games on the road. Seattle has scored six total goals in their last three games at home.
Pick: Go under 5.5 at -120
