With nine NFL games scheduled for Sunday, October 23, this conference duel in Denver is one of the most interesting, and here you can read the best Jets vs. Broncos betting pick and odds.
New York is hoping to get the fourth win in a row, while Denver will do anything possible to avoid the fourth consecutive defeat when they face at Empower Field at Mile High. Both teams are equal with the bookmakers, while the total is set at 43.5 points on Caesars NY Sportsbook. These AFC foes have met once in 2021, and Denver won that game 26-0 at home.
Jets are surprising everybody with a fine form
The New York Jets (4-2, 4-2 ATS), along with their city rivals New York Giants, are surely the most pleasant surprise of the NFLO season so far. After entering the campaign with a 1-2 record, New York got three wins in a row and now has the second-best record in the AFC. Following a par of wins over Pittsburgh and Miami, which were not that surprising, the Jets beat the Green Bay Packers 27-10 on the road. Green Bay couldn’t handle New York’s run offense and excellent defense.
Zach Wilson completed ten of 18 passes for 110 yards. Breece Hall was unstoppable on the ground with 116 yards (game-high) and a touchdown on 20 rush attempts. For the second consecutive game, wide receiver Braxton Berrios scored a rushing TD, while New York didn’t bother to use its pass offense. Still, Corey Davis was one of the most notable players with 52 yards on two receptions. Defensively, Quincy Williams and C.J. Mosley were dominant with 25 tackles combined, while Quinnen Williams recorded a couple of sacks.
DE Jermaine Johnson II missed the last game with an ankle injury and is questionable to face the Broncos on Sunday.
Broncos succumbed to another OT defeat
The Denver Broncos (2-4, 2-4 ATS) simply don’t have luck this season as they suffered the third loss by a 3-point margin or less. After losing to the Indianapolis Colts at home in overtime, the Broncos lost another game in OT, this time against the divisional foes the Los Angeles Chargers on the road. They opened the game with a 10-0 lead, but the Chargers answered with ten points and the game was close and ended 16-16 in regulation. Montrell Washington muffed a punt in OT and gave Los Angeles a great opportunity to win with a field goal, which was exactly what the hosts did to get a 19-16 victory.
Russell Wilson had a bright start in this game after completing the first ten pass attempts, but he was invisible in the second 30 minutes. Wilson ended the clash with 15/28 for 188 yards and a touchdown. The rookie tight end, Greg Dulcich, scored his first touchdown in the NFL on his debut, while Jerry Jeudy led the Broncos with 54 receiving yards. Melvin Gordon watched from the sideline how Latavius Murray is taking his job as No. 1 RB; Murray was the best runner on the field with 66 yards on 15 carries. Linebacker Alex Singleton, who usually plays in a special team, was a real force on defense as he registered a career-high 21 tackles, and that’s the league high in a game after the opening six weeks.
DE Randy Gregory (knee), CB Ronald Darby (ACL), T Garett Bolles (leg), WR Tim Patrick (knee), and RB Javonte Williams (knee) are done for the year. QB Russell Wilson (hamstring) and LB Josey Jewell (knee) are questionable to take on the Jets on Sunday.
• 6-14 ATS in the last 20 games vs. a team with a losing record
• 2-5 ATS in the last seven games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game
• 12-4 ATS in the last 16 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game
New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos Pick
After suffering those bad beats in recent weeks, this game is now or never for the Broncos. Once again, they will have to rely on their defense because their offense is the worst in the NFL. Denver is scoring 15.2 points per game, but the Broncos also have the fourth-best defense that allows 16.5 ppg. Home-field advantage is one of the reasons I am backing the Broncos, who know how to win in Denver through their defense. It’s going to be another tight affair and of course, it’s not going to be shocking if the Jets win, but I am going with the hosts, who cannot afford to lose another close duel.
Pick: Take the Broncos to win (-110)
Denver scored only 25 points in the previous two games, and although New York’s offense has been quite effective of late, I am backing the home team defense to control the Jets in this one. New York’s defense was also good in the last two games, allowing only 27 points in total to the Dolphins and Packers. Under is 4-1 in the previous five H2H duels in Denver; Under is 5-1 in Denver’s last six games overall, while Under is 4-1 in the Broncos’ previous five home games.
Pick: Go Under 38.5 points (-110)
