Arizona Coyotes vs. New York Rangers

Arizona Coyotes vs. New York Rangers Odds, Pick, Prediction 11/13/22

November 12th, 2022 By: Bob Dabo

The NHL is giving us six games on the schedule for Sunday, November 13, and this inter-conference tilt is one of them, so make sure you don’t miss out on the best Coyotes vs. Rangers betting pick and odds.

Both Arizona and New York will be playing the second of a back-to-back set when they meet at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers are massive -308 moneyline favorites on BetRivers NY Sportsbook, while the total is set at 6.5 goals. These inter-conference rivals have already met this season, and the Rangers won that game 3-2 in Arizona.

Coyotes opened the road trip with three wins

The Arizona Coyotes (6-6-1-0, 8-5 ATS) are currently on an extensive 14-game road trip, which is unorthodox and not often seen in professional sports betting. However, the Coyotes opened it with three consecutive wins over the Capitals, Sabres, and Islanders, conceding only three goals in the process. Arizona will meet the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night and then will take on the New York Rangers on Sunday.

For the first time this season, the Coyotes managed to keep their net intact in a 2-0 victory over the New York Islanders. It was a 0-0 stalemate until the final period and goals from Travis Boyd and Jack McBain. Karel Vejmelka recorded his first shutout of the year with 24 saves, while Arizona had 28 shots. Clayton Keller has been Arizona’s best player so far with 15 points (G 4, A 11), while Shayne Gostisbehere follows him with 10 (G 4, A 6).

Connor Ingram (1-3-0) is expected to start at the goal against the Rangers on Sunday. The 25-year-old is allowing 4.42 goals per game this season and has a .874 SV% without shutouts.

LW Andrew Ladd (knee), RW Zack Kassian (lower body), LW Nick Schmaltz (upper body), and D Conor Timmins (upper body) are unavailable to play on Sunday against the Rangers.

Rangers ended a losing streak with a win over Detroit

The New York Rangers (7-5-2-1, 5-10 ATS) snapped a three-game losing skid with a big 8-2 road victory over the Detroit Red Wings. Interestingly, all three of those defeats came at home, while the Rangers scored a season-high eight goals against Detroit and responded to that negative streak in style.

The game was tied at 2-2 after the first two periods, but the Ranger scored six unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes. It’s a curiosity that six different skaters scored those goals. Adam Fox was the best player on the ice with four points, Barclay Goodrow had three, while six contributed with two points. For the season, Artemi Panarin leads the team in points with 21 (G 5, A 16). Mika Zibanejad has 18 (G 9, A 9), while Fox registered 16 (G 4, A 12).

Jaroslav Halak (0-3-1) will likely be a starting goaltender against the Coyotes on Sunday. The 37-year-old allows 3.48 goals per contest this year with a .882 SV% and without shutouts.

Trends:

Arizona:

  • 6-15 in the last 21 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation
  • 1-4 in the last five Sunday games
  • 1-4 in the last five games playing without rest

New York:

  • 7-3 in the last ten vs. Western Conference rivals
  • 14-6 in the last 20 Sunday games
  • 15-6 in the last 21 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation

Arizona Coyotes vs. New York Rangers Pick

Arizona is perhaps in better form, but New York has a stronger team and a more experienced goaltender, which can be crucial in this one. Connor Ingram started four games this season and allowed at least three goals in each, so I expect the Rangers to score plenty of goals on Sunday and get an easy victory. New York already faced Ingram this year and got a W. Artemi Panarin didn’t score a goal in the last five games, but he did provide five assists in the previous three. I am backing Panarin to score here and be a player of the game.

Pick: Take the Rangers at -1.5 Puck Line (-110)

The Total

Considering the previous statement about Arizona’s goaltender Ingram, I am going with the Rangers to score at least four goals in this duel. Both teams will play the second of back-to-back sets, so I expect defenses to be a bit tired and more lenient than usual. In other words, I wouldn’t be surprised if both teams score 3+ goals. Over is 8-3-2 in the last 13 meetings in New York; Over is 8-1-1 in the Coyotes’ previous ten in the third game of a 3-in-4 days situation, while Over is 10-4 in Arizona’s last 14 road games.

Pick: Go Over 6.5 goals (-110)
