The Divisional Round in the NFL playoffs continues with this NFC duel on Saturday, January 21, and here you can read the best Giants vs. Eagles betting pick and odds.
Philadelphia is ready for a rematch against New York when they face at Lincoln Financial Field for the second time in two weeks. The Eagles are -7.5 favorites on BetMGM NY Sportsbook, while the total is set at 48.5 points. These NFC East foes will meet for the third time this season; the Eagles lead the series 2-0.
Giants outlasted the Vikings as Dan Jones set the record
The New York Giants (10-7-1, 14-4 ATS) progressed to the Divisional Round after defeating the Minnesota Vikings 31-24 on the road. It was one of the best offensive displays of the season for the Giants, who were better in total yards (431-332) and first downs (28-21). Minnesota got to an early 7-0 lead, but New York responded in the very next drive and was never behind from that point. We had a 24-24 tie until midway through the final quarter when Saquon Barkley scored a 2-yard rushing touchdown to set the final score.
Daniel Jones had the best game of his career. In his first-ever start in the playoffs, Jones became the first player in NFL history to post a 300-yard, two-touchdown, and 70+ rushing yards display in the postseason. Saquon Barkley scored a pair of rushing touchdowns as he finished with 53 yards on nine carries. Isaiah Hodgins led the G-Men in receiving yards with 105 yards and a TD on eight catches; Darius Slayton added 88 yards on four receptions, while Daniel Bellinger had a receiving touchdown. On defense, Xavier McKinney chipped in a game-high eight tackles.
WR Sterling Shepard (ACL), G Shane Lemieux (toe), DT Nick Williams (biceps), CB Aaron Robinson (knee), and WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee) are out for the season. LB Azeez Ojulari (quad) is questionable to face Philadelphia on Saturday.
Eagles clinched the NFC top seed after beating the Giants
The Philadelphia Eagles (14-3-0, 8-9-0 ATS) needed just one more win to secure a top seed in the NFC after suffering a couple of defeats to Dallas and New Orleans. The Eagles did it against the divisional foes New York Giants at home and earned a bye week in the Wild Card of the playoffs. Philadelphia had an easy job in the opening half and was 19-0 up early in the second half, and only the Giants could do is to soften a defeat. The Eagles won 22-16 in the end.
Jalen Hurts completed 20 of 35 passes for 229 yards and one interception. Boston Scott scored the only touchdown for the Eagles as he led the team in rushing yards with 54 on nine attempts. A.J. Brown was the best receiver on the field as he collected 95 yards on four receptions, while DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert combined for 113 yards on 13 catches. Defensively, Kyzir White and T.J. Edwards impressed with 22 tackles and a sack.
DE Robert Quinn (knee) is done for the season. T Lane Johnson (ankle) and DE Josh Sweat (leg) are questionable to feature on Saturday against the Giants.
Trends:
New York:
- 5-0 ATS in the last five games overall
- 5-0 ATS in the last five road games
- 10-1 ATS in the last 11 playoff road games
- 4-0 ATS in the last four vs. NFC rivals
Philadelphia:
- 0-4 ATS in the last four games overall
- 0-4 ATS in the last four vs. NFC opponents
- 0-5 ATS in the last five games in January
New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles Pick
The Eagles did have an extra week to prepare for this game and they already beat the Giants twice this season, but the playoff is something different. We know that the best teams in the regular season can lose the first game in the playoffs, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens to the Eagles here.
Philly does have the third-best offense in the NFL that averages 28.1 points per game and a top-10 defense that allows 20.2 ppg. New York is weaker in both segments, but it seems that the Giants have a great atmosphere and are really looking eager to make another upset. They are the best team in the league when it comes to ATS, and I am backing them to cover once again.
Betting Pick: Take the Giants at +9.5 (-130)
The Total
Both sides are excellent at running and are among the top five teams in the league in that regard. New York averages 148.2 rushing yards per game, while Philly averages 147.6 rypg, and given that both quarterbacks like to run a lot, I expect to see the ball on the ground quite often on Saturday. Under is 4-1 in the last five H2H meetings in Philadelphia; Under is 9-4 in the Giants’ previous 13 playoff games, while Under is 9-1-1 in the Eagles’ last 11 playoff home games.
Pick: Go Under 50.5 points (-133)
