The ultimate week of the 2021-22 NBA season goes on Wednesday, April 6, with the Atlantic Division showdown at Madison Square Garden in New York, so we bring you the best Nets vs. Knicks betting pick along with the latest odds update on BetMGM NY Sportsbook.
The Nets head to The Garden as firm favorites, searching for their seventh straight victory over the Knicks. They look to sweep the Knicks series for the second straight year, but Brooklyn has covered the spread only twice in its last ten encounters with New York.
The Nets play without restÂ
The Brooklyn Nets hosted the lowly Houston Rockets for Tuesday night’s interconference clash that has been excluded from the analysis. They were looking to stop a two-game slide as massive 17.5-point favorites.
After a tough 120-119 overtime loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on the home court, the Nets suffered a 122-115 defeat at the Atlanta Hawks this past Saturday. Kevin Durant accounted for a career-high 55 points, but his teammates didn’t help a lot. Kyrie Irving had 31 points on a poor 12-for-32 shooting from the field, while the rest of the Nets finished the game in single digits.
Brooklyn was tied with Charlotte for the No. 9 seed in the East on Tuesday. They trailed eighth-seeded Atlanta by one game, so we’re expecting a great battle for the play-in tournament seeds in the next few days.
The Knicks won five of their last seven games          Â
The New York Knicks (35-44; 37-42 ATS) are coming off a 118-88 victory at the Orlando Magic this past Sunday. Playing as 5-point road favorites, the Knicks snapped their two-game skid and recorded the fifth win in their last seven outings at any location.
New York shut down the hapless Magic, who made only 35.3% of their field goals and 27.3% of their 3-pointers (12-for-44). RJ Barrett led the charge for the Knicks with 27 points and six assists, while Immanuel Quickley posted a 20-point, 10-assist double-double in 34 minutes off the bench.
The Knicks have played well lately, posting a plus-4 net rating in their previous seven contests. Anyway, the Knicks are eliminated from playoff contention and can already look to the future.
Trends:
Brooklyn:
- 8-2-1 ATS in the last 11 games on the road
NY Knicks:
- 2-10 ATS in the last 12 games at home
Brooklyn Nets vs. New York Knicks Pick
The Knicks will try everything they can to avoid another sweep against the Nets. However, Brooklyn heads to Madison Square Garden with a much bigger motive, and that’s the No. 8 seed in the play-in tournament.
The Nets will have to deal with fatigue, but they should be fine after playing the lowly Rockets on the first day of a back-to-back set. Kevin Durant looks unstoppable, so give me the visitors and points. Without Julius Randle (quadriceps), the Knicks’ frontcourt will struggle to deal with KD.
Pick: Take Brooklyn Nets -5.5 at -110
The Total:
The Knicks love to play at a slow pace, averaging 95.9 possessions per 48 minutes (28th in the NBA). If they want to stand any chance of upsetting the odds in this matchup, the Knicks will have to slow down things as much as they can. On the other side, the Nets are tallying 99.1 possessions per 48 minutes (11th) and over their previous five outings, they’ve registered 102.7.
The under is 10-5 in the last 15 encounters between the Nets and Knicks, but only one of their previous six meetings has gone under the total. Still, none of those six tilts have produced more than 229 points in total.
Pick: Go under 232.0 points at -110
