A nine-game slate in the NBA scheduled for Saturday, February 4, will begin with this conference duel in Brooklyn, and here you can read the best Wizards vs. Nets betting pick and odds.
Washington will be playing the second game of a back-to-back set when they visit Brooklyn at Barclays Center. The Nets are 3-point favorites on BetMGM NY Sportsbook, while the total is set at 230.5 points. These conference rivals have met three times this season, and the Nets won all three meetings.
Wizards didn’t have trouble with the Spurs on the road
The Washington Wizards (24-26, 24-23-3 ATS) are playing their best basketball this year and are on a six-game winning run. Five of those victories were on the road including the previous four. The Wizards secured an easy 127-106 win against the San Antonio Spurs after limiting the hosts to under 20 points in two quarters. On the other end, Washington shot 55.8% from the field and made 16 triples opposite the Spurs’ seven. The Wizards were supposed to conclude their five-game road trip on Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons, but that game was postponed.
Deni Avdija led Washington in a win over the Spurs with 25 points and team-high nine rebounds. Bradley Beal followed him with 21 points, seven boards, team-high seven assists, and two blocks, Kristaps Porzingis chipped in 17 points, nine rebounds, seven dishes, game-high five blocks, and game-high three thefts, while Kyle Kuzma ended with 16 points and six boards.
SF Anthony Gill (quarantine) is unavailable to play on Saturday in Brooklyn.
Nets were dismantled by the Celtics in Boston
The Brooklyn Nets (31-20, 24-25-2 ATS) responded to a surprising home loss to the Detroit Pistons with a pair of victories over the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers. However, the very next game turned out to be disastrous for the Nets, who suffered their biggest defeat of the season in a 139-96 blowout loss to the Boston Celtics on the road. Brooklyn trailed by 30 points already after the opening quarter and made only nine three-pointers opposite Boston’s 26, while the hosts dominated both rebounds (57-32) and assists (28-19).
Kyrie Irving led the Nets in this catastrophic loss with 20 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Cam Thomas scored 19 points, while Joe Harris contributed 12. The most recent news suggests that Irving asked the Nets for a trade before the deadline next Thursday, so we’re going to see whether Brooklyn will let him leave and where he’ll land.
SF Kevin Durant (knee) is out indefinitely. SF T.J. Warren (leg) and PG Ben Simmons (knee) are questionable to feature on Saturday against the Wizards.
- 12-26-2 ATS in the last 40 road games vs. a team with a winning home record
- 5-2 ATS in the last seven games overall
- 4-1 ATS in the last five games playing on two days of rest
- 4-0-1 ATS in the last five Saturday games
Washington Wizards vs. Brooklyn Nets Pick
Despite recent reports surrounding Kyrie Irving’s future, I fully expect to see him starting in this game and leading his team to victory. Brooklyn already beat Washington three times this season, and the Nets will be desperate to show an improved performance after a disaster in Boston. Also, the Wizards will be playing the second game of a back-to-back set after facing Portland on Friday, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they decide to rest some key players on Saturday. The Wizards are in excellent form and a win in Brooklyn wouldn’t be a shock, but I am going with the hosts to get an edge.
Pick: Take the Nets at -1.5 (-130)
After scoring just 96 in a blowout loss to the Celtics, I am backing the Nets to bounce back offensively here. Still, Washington is allowing 113.0 points per game and they allowed more than that only once in three H2Hs this season. On the other hand, the Wizards failed to score more than 107 points against Brooklyn in those three H2H encounters this year, so I expect to see a low-scoring affair. Under is 4-1 in the Wizards’ last five road games.
Pick: Go Under 231.5 points (-130)
