Eight games are on tap in the NBA for Sunday, March 13, and we will take a look at one of the most intriguing, as the city rivals face in the divisional duel. You don’t want to miss out on the best Knicks vs. Nets betting pick and odds.
Brooklyn won the opening two games of the season series, and the Knicks are looking for the first win in six H2H encounters. The Nets are -5.5-point favorites with a total of 224.5, according to Fanduel NY Sportsbook.
Knicks couldn’t make it four in a row
The New York Knicks connected three wins on the road and were very close to getting the fourth, but the Memphis Grizzlies came back from a 15-point deficit to win the game. Tom Thibodeau’s side fell short 118-114, but on the positive side, the Knicks managed to cover a +9 spread, the fifth straight time they covered.
Julius Randle (36 PTS, 12 REB, 6 AST, 2 STL, and 2 BLK), RJ Barrett (23 PTS and 7 REB), Alec Burks (18 PTS, 6 REB, and 5 AST), and Mitchell Robinson (10 PTS, 16 REB, 4 AST, 4 BLK, and 3 STL) impressed for the Knicks in this tight loss.
Nets got the statement win in Philly
Following four consecutive losses, the Brooklyn Nets beat the Charlotte Hornets and divisional rivals Philadelphia 76ers, with the latter one coming in style. Steve Nash’s team secured a massive 129-100 road win and sent the message that they are still alive in the playoff race. Brooklyn covered both games after failing to do so in five of seven games before this mini-series.
Kevin Durant (25 PTS, 14 REB, 7 AST, and 2 STL), Seth Curry (24 PTS and 5 STL), and Kyrie Irving (22 PTS, 5 AST, 4 REB, and 2 BLK) led the Nets in this blowout victory.
Trends:
New York:
- 4-9 ATS in the last 13 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game
- 3-8 ATS in the last 11 games following a straight-up loss
- 2-9 ATS in the last 11 Sunday games
Brooklyn:
- 3-1-1 ATS in the last five games vs. a team with a losing straight up record
New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets Picks
The Nets already beat the Knicks on two occasions this season, while they won eight of the previous ten H2H duels. Brooklyn will play without Irving in this one, but with KD back in the starting lineup, the Nets are looking intimidating, and I seriously doubt the Knicks can stop them right now. New York indeed impressed with some displays on a current road trip, but playing Brooklyn is not something the Knicks are comfortable with.
I don’t think the Knicks will avoid a loss here, but I am backing them to cover because New York really improved its game of late. New York is 7-2 ATS in its last nine games against Brooklyn, even though the Nets usually were on the winning side of those games.
Pick: Take the New York Knicks +5.5 at -110
The Total
The Nets did limit the Sixers to 100 points in the most recent game, but their defense is not playing well of late. Namely, Brooklyn allowed 120+ points in five of the previous seven games, while the Knicks’ offense showed improvement in the last week or so. It’s evident that the Nets cannot rely on their offense to win them games, but they have some out-of-this-world offensive players who can do miracles.
All of this is enough for me to expect a high-scoring affair. The total has gone Over in ten of New York’s last 13 games, while each of the Knicks’ previous six games went Over. On the other hand, the total has gone Over in seven of Brooklyn’s last ten games this season.
